Every month Zakat Foundation DE team will select one volunteer that illustrates superb community service. DE ZF team seeks to recognize volunteers who have gone above and beyond to serve their community.
We understand the everyday demands and time constraints that our student volunteers face with all their academic courses and extracurricular activities. We value all volunteers and recognize with this honor those who take their volunteer activity seriously and show commitment to those they help. We are proud to recognize our Volunteers of the Month.
November’s ZF Volunteer of the Month is Mazen Almakhadhi. He is a senior at Alexis I DuPont high school who took time out from his busy schedule to commit to tutoring at Zakat Foundation’s Fall Math Tutoring session. Mazen illustrated great care and concern while teaching 5th graders. He also stuck with his commitment and consistently came to the sessions. ZF Team loves committed volunteers!
We asked Mazen to tell us a little about himself and his goals:
“My goal is to become a doctor either a pediatrician, dentist, or surgeon. I’m still a little undecided. I plan to go and major in pre med and take the MCAT exam in my junior year in college. Then I will hopefully enroll into medical school. For college I want to go to John Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania, or University of Delaware.I love to play sports such as basketball and soccer and I try to play whenever I can.
I came to Zakat Foundation to be tutored and I have substantially gained more knowledge as a result of the SAT classes. I also volunteered there when I tutored the younger youth in math. I enjoy teaching kids a new approach in solving the mathematical concepts needed to excel in the class. By educating the youth, we are setting new goals for becoming successful in life.”
The DE ZF team is proud of Mazen Almakhadhi and pray that he always uses his talents to help others in his community.
