The Rescue Rangers continue to make a difference in people's lives. They are currently wrapping up their project of Eid Gifts, providing clothing and gifts for orphans around the world. Using their ingenuity, they came up with different ways to raise funds. They kicked off their project with a movie night. They gathered at the ZF Center to watch Harry Potter and The Sorceress Stone. They served pizza, chips and drinks. They drew a small crowd and raised around 80 dollars.
Seeing that the center received a donation of drinks and legumes from a store, they saw an opportunity to use it as a fundraiser. Setting up a visible stand at the Center, they got attention for their project and which in turn prompted people interested in buying the items on sale. Charging only $1 dollar each, they raised around $300 dollars. It was a win win situation for everyone.
Knowing they have to raise more money, the idea of making an activity book during their weekly meetings was born. Using their passion and artist abilities, each member worked hard to contribute to the book. Inside the activity book, they included coloring pictures, word searches, mad libs and Choose Your Own Adventure story. The finished product went on sale at the annual Iftar at the George Wilson Center on July 2, 2015, and in that night they raised around $200 dollars. Through their confidence, charm, and great communication skills, the Rescue Rangers effectively raised awareness and got people to to contribute to their newest idea to make the life of less fortunate more brighter by gifting them with gifts.
To spread the word of what they are working on, they made video to capture the heart of others so they too can contribute and make a difference in the lives of others. People from other states gave money for this project through Zakat earning around $1,700 dollars.
The Henna party was their last fundraiser which turned out to be great. The community was invited for this event to get Henna for $5 dollars. Excited people from all over Newark came to the Center to join in and have some fun. Two wonderful mother and daughter team from local Home school group donated their time and lent their creative talent to do this event. The Rescue Rangers earned $175 dollars.
Through hard work and commitment, the Rescue Rangers continue to forge a path that involves helping others through their caring. They have had a profound impact in the lives of others they have never met and hope to do so much more in the future. Those of us who get to watch them grow and mature feel pride and joy for what they have accomplished.
