Learning Skills workshops

This month in our learning workshop, we covered sewing crafty purses, learned to cook amazing dishes, and created beautiful art work to decorate their house within their budget. A group of women faithfully come to these workshops to empower themselves by learning different skills and strengthening relationships.

The art of interior decoration can feel daunting, not to mention expensive. However, the attendees of these workshops learned new techniques to liven up their house without breaking the bank. Rizwana Khadil showed them how simple and fun it is to do decoupage. It is amazing what you can do with plastic or glass plates, fabric, tissue papers, and glue. The final product turned out to be a stunning decorative plate you can use to serve deserts. Barbara Hashem demonstrated how to make lovely flowers with tissue paper. The skilled teachers gave complete step-by-step instructions and showed them how easy it is to try these projects at home.

They also learned that cooking is not only a way of preparing, but also an art. Everyone has their own unique way of creating amazing meals. During the cooking workshop, the women had an opportunity to watch and learn from each other cooking particular dishes. They made delicious Masala chicken, flavorful Indian style rice, earthy bean salad, scrumptious Moroccan cookies called Ghryiba. Those were there, gained culinary skills and tips on how to cook delicious dishes. Week after week it is evident that the women who come to this workshop leave leave with a wealth of new knowledge they can put to a good use.
