Family Programs

ZF encourages families to spend time together and, therefore, offers a wide range of programs for all members of a family to enjoy.  From social get-togethers to self-improvement workshops, these events are intended to benefit families in the region.

Women's Aerobics

ZF believes keeping fit and having a strong body is important.  Therefore, weekly women's aerobics classes are held with high priority at the center.  Having a peaceful morning with other sisters, the women encourage each other to exercise.

If you are interested in joining this class, email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Volunteer as a Tutor

Volunteer tutors are imperative to the success of our educational workshops.  We pride ourselves in providing low teacher to student ratios during our tutoring sessions.  This can only be successful with help from volunteers like you.

We encourage both adults and youth to volunteer as tutors.  We believe that striving high-schoolers can benefit from instructing younger students and that students thrive when having a close age-range with their teachers.

Please keep in mind that ZF strongly believes in providing high-quality educational programs and volunteering tutors must commit to certain standards and must qualify based on the following criteria.

  • Tutors must be able to commit to all or a majority of classes.
  • Tutors must arrive on time to all classes unless with a valid excuse.
  • Tutors should follow the set curriculum for each tutoring session.
  • Select youth tutors from grades 8-12 will be accepted only if they pass the tests taken by their students.

If you are interested in volunteering as a tutor, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Note that you will only be considered for the role if you are an official ZF volunteer.  Register here: Volunteer. Book Club

In the busy world we live in, adults often overlook simple pleasures, such as reading books.  A supporter of literacy, ZF DE started a book club for adults in which group members choose inspiring books to read (mostly fiction) and discuss lessons to learn during meetings at the center.  Books discussed so far include, but are not limited to:

  • Secrets of the Henna Girl by Sufiya Ahmed
  • Reclaim Your Heart by Yasmin Mogahed
  • If I Should Speak Trilogy by Umm Zakiyyah
  • Realities of Submission by Umm Zakiyyah

Members of the book club have enjoyed reading these inspirational books and spending time with each other.

Recommendation Letters

High school and college applications often require students to have recommendation letters written by reliable sources.  Recommendation letters allow schools to see a side of you that is not shown through grades and test scores.  ZF can testify for your volunteer service in a professionally written letter signed by a ZF staff/mentor.

To request a recommendation letter, send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  with a reminder of your services to your community and your scope of volunteering through ZF.  Please keep in mind that, due to the number of requests we receive from students each year, we may not be able to provide you with a letter right away.  Be sure to send in your request at least a month before you will need it.  Read the following criteria to determine whether you qualify for receiving a ZF recommendation letter.

  • You must be an official ZF volunteer (you should have a Volunteering Account registered through ZF)
  • You must have volunteered at the ZF Center or at ZF-sponsored events during the year you request for a recommendation.
  • You must have committed at least 20 hours of volunteering to ZF.

Keep in mind that ZF holds the right to deny recommending a student based on our standards and certain guidelines.
